KET Debate Republican Primary 2012

I am thinking about writing my reactions to the debate on KET.  I don't think anything in stood out in any special way because of the liberal who was conducting the debate.  I did think in particular that Mrs. Legg  Weggington's self-promotion as a tough cop was very out of taste. She would often tell a story about her exploits, even when it had nothing to do with the actual question.  She sounded like a sophomore school girl trying to impress some guy sitting across the room.  We don't need that in Congress.  Remember Al Gore standing outside his office pretending to read a physics book, so people would think he was smart?  That's the game she was playing.

The Federal Government from 1800 to 1850

How did this change?

"The chief activities of the federal government in 1850 were about the same as in 1800.  Then included national defense, the conduct of foreign relations, regulation of Indian affairs, sale of public lands, postal service, and collection of import duties.  No important new function had been added to the list, and indeed the government had withdrawn from the field of banking.  Outside the post office system, there were fewer than 5000 civilian federal employees in the whole country, and annual federal expenditures amounted to only $1.70 per capita."
